cantscroll is a focus tool that helps you avoid distractions while coding by automatically blocking apps, websites, and web domains on your Mac and iPhone when specified coding agents are running on your Mac.
The macOS command-line tool (free, installed via Homebrew) blocks domains at the system network level by modifying the hosts file on your Mac.
The iOS app (paid subscription required) extends blocking to your iPhone by applying restrictions through Apple's Screen Time API, which can restrict both apps and web domains. The iOS app requires an active subscription to use any features.
cantscroll is a productivity tool. It is not a security tool, a parental control tool, a medical or therapeutic intervention, or a guarantee of any productivity outcome.
You acknowledge that iOS blocking depends on Apple's FamilyControls framework (which has known limitations including user bypass through iOS Settings), that blocking effectiveness depends on factors outside our control, and that we make no guarantee the Service will be available, error-free, or uninterrupted.
cantscroll integrates with and depends on third-party software and services including, but not limited to, coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, OpenAI Codex, GitHub Copilot, Aider, and others), Apple's operating system APIs, Homebrew, and cloud services.
We have no control over third-party software and services. We are not responsible for any failure, degradation, or interruption of the Service caused by updates, changes, or removal of features by third-party coding agents, changes to Apple's APIs, or changes to any other third-party service we depend upon. If a third-party update causes cantscroll to stop working, we will use commercially reasonable efforts to restore functionality, but make no guarantee of timeline or outcome.
Your subscription obligations are not suspended or cancelled by temporary or permanent incompatibility caused by third-party changes, though you may cancel your subscription at any time in accordance with Section 5.
The cantscroll macOS command-line tool, installed via Homebrew, is provided free of charge. No subscription or payment is required to install or use the macOS tool.
The cantscroll iOS application requires an active paid subscription to access any features. Current pricing is displayed in the iOS app at the time of purchase.
We may offer a free trial period for the iOS app. The trial converts automatically to a paid subscription unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends.
All iOS subscriptions are billed through Apple's App Store. Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date. You can manage and cancel subscriptions through iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
All refund requests must be submitted through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. We do not process refunds directly.
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Block, restrict, or monitor the device of another person without their explicit informed consent
- Bypass legitimate Screen Time controls set by a parent, guardian, or employer
- Violate any law, regulation, or third-party right
- Distribute malware or interfere with the Service
- Reverse engineer or extract proprietary information from the Service
The Service, including all software, designs, text, graphics, and other content, is owned by us and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. The "cantscroll" name and logo are our trademarks.
By submitting feedback, suggestions, or ideas to us, you grant us a perpetual, royalty-free, irrevocable right to use them for any purpose without compensation to you.
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy. By using the Service, you agree to our Privacy Policy.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of certain damages. In such jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless cantscroll and its operators, affiliates, licensors, and service providers from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, judgments, awards, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or relating to your use or misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any applicable law or regulation.
You may stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the iOS app and running cantscroll uninstall on your Mac. Cancelling your subscription does not automatically uninstall the software.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including but not limited to violation of these Terms. If we terminate your access without cause, we will provide a prorated refund through Apple for any unused prepaid period.
Before filing any formal dispute, you agree to contact us at hello@cantscroll.com with a written description of your claim. We will make a good-faith effort to resolve the matter informally within 30 days.
If informal resolution fails, any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. The arbitrator's award shall be final and binding.
You may opt out of the arbitration and class action waiver provisions within 30 days of first using the Service by emailing hello@cantscroll.com with the subject line "Arbitration Opt-Out."
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States and the State of New York, without regard to conflict of law principles.
These Terms are between you and cantscroll only, not Apple. Apple is not a party to these Terms and is not responsible for the Service or its content. Apple has no obligation to furnish maintenance or support services with respect to the Service. Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms.
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service. If any provision is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect. We may assign these Terms freely; you may not assign them without our written consent.
